Job Description:

I. Purpose of Position

The primary role of this position is the integrity of system design as well as to design, develop, document, support electronic components and embedded software, support mechanical components for instrumentation, coordinate and facilitate design development within projects.

II. Key Responsibilities

    Interfaces with other design engineers responsible for user interface, industrial design, software, mechanical systems and compliance
    Electronic design, development, test and documentation for laboratory equipment.
    Generating test plans and procuring necessary equipment for mechanical and electrical testing of instruments undergoing development.
    Conducts instrument performance, environmental and operational tests.
    Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data, based on knowledge of the design intent.
    Reports test outcomes by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and displaying data.
    Documents, test, reports and communicates test results.
    Reviews and updates project specifications and requirements with engineers.
    Component and material searches
    Coordinates parts procurement and model instrument builds.
    Embedded software design, development, test and documentation for laboratory equipment.
    Mechanical design, development, testing and documentation for laboratory equipment.
    Reports status of design projects and feasibility studies.
    Other duties as assigned.

The System Engineer reports directly to the R&D Manager LED Shanghai.

V. Background and Skill Requirements

    Bachelor in Engineering or technical area major in Mechatronics Engineering or Automation Engineering is preferred, Master degree or above is a plus.
    Three years, or above, of experience in a product development environment; experience on lab equipment or similar instruments development or testing is a plus.
    Demonstrated knowledge of system testing, including test plan, test system design & building, test data analysis & document, test report presentation
    Ability to create, design, test and document electronic and mechanical systems
    Knowledge of electrical and electronic system design and development.
    Knowledge of embedded software design and development.
    Knowledge of mechanical system design
    Knowledge of materials, including plastics, metals and adhesives.
    Knowledge of commonly applied instrument development and manufacturing concepts.
    Knowledge of commonly applied project management concepts
    Demonstrated knowledge of ISO and new product development processes and practices.
    Skilled with a variety of design tools
    Innovative research skills
    Consistently innovative design and development work
    Good computer skills including Microsoft Office is a must
    Effective group presentation skills
    Ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and skills as necessary
