Purpose of the Role
Expedia Partner Services Group is recruiting for a dynamic sales/business development person to fulfill the role of Business Development Manager. Reporting to the Director of Market Management or Regional Manager, the ideal individual will have a strong background managing geographically diverse sales markets, with a strong emphasis on consultative sales principles.
The key objective of this role is to provide commercial leadership and strong execution capabilities to ensure that acquisition targets are exceeded within the region. In doing so, you’ll bring an above average analytical acumen coupled with market place knowledge and a high level of sales savvy to the role. The ability to establish and develop long term relationships with both internal and external customers will be a key to the success of the role.

Key Areas of Responsibility
Identify Expedia’s hotel offering’s strengths and weaknesses in Japan with regards to its demand characteristics and the points of sale’s future growth strategies. As a result of this analysis, develop and implement tailored and prioritized acquisition strategies with the goal of exceeding hotel acquisition targets and ensuring that newly signed hotels sell well, meet an unaddressed demand on Expedia and generate incremental revenue for the Company.
Develop, refine and implement successful and market-relevant acquisition business models (commercials, payments and connectivity solutions…) to efficiently and profitably enroll hotel chains and independent properties onto the Expedia travel marketplace
Develop and execute market-relevant acquisition initiatives with a clear view to maximize margin and revenue opportunity, secure year-round inventory and drive long term relationships with our supply partners.
Assist senior leadership in setting realistic yet ambitious acquisition and revenue goals for the territory and articulating the best acquisition strategy to achieve these goals.
Represent Expedia and engage negotiations with potential hotel prospects at relevant industry events and trade shows
Prepare regular progress reports highlighting successes and obstacles, and provide insights and recommendations on potential improvement opportunities

Skills and Experience
University business degree, MBA preferred
Minimum of 5-8 years in complex sales or customer service (ideally in the hospitality industry).
Able to communicate with suppliers in a persuasive, comprehensive manner whilst demonstrating a deep understanding of their business needs.
Strong understanding of sales and service strategies, including a deep knowledge of account and inventory/revenue management.
Able to work and thrive in a multi-tasked, fast paced environment.
Professional work ethic and "can-do” attitude.
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
Advanced negotiation skills.
Previous cultural exposure to, or working experience with, foreign cultures
Proven ability to work autonomously and leverage the support of internationally-based multi-cultural support teams
