Job Description:
Purpose:
Primary job function is to find new hotel product and the maintenance of existing partners, sales presentations, and attendance at travel industry related functions responsibilities as described below.
Responsibilities:
Identifying key markets and the types of products (Hotels, Destination Services, etc.) needed that would be most complimentary to our current product offerings and revenue growth.
Grow Net Revenue in Market
Produce actionable business plan with Market Manager guidance to achieve revenue goals.
Identify new hotel product to be contracted
Ensure inventory levels exceed demand throughout market
Ensure rate competitiveness
Participate in weekly ‘Market Review’ process, provide forecast supporting major market trends
Maintain 9 month running inventory and rates and follow up on all expiring contracts
Analyze weekly reports and apply information to specific markets
Negotiate and secure market deals - meeting or exceeding Expedia merchandising requirements
Effectively merchandise all negotiated deals on different Expedia sites.
Establish and maintain supplier relationships
Manage market level partner relationships addressing the needs of suppliers
Train partner hotels on the Extranet and key points of the wholesale business
Review monthly production reports with top producing hotels providing feedback on how to further grow production.
Plan and execute markets visits as agreed with Regional Management meeting trip objectives and guidelines.
Initiate Contract Agreements and Credit Arrangements with Suppliers
Oversee coordination of Contracts between Market Management and Suppliers
Maintenance of key accounts, such as Hotel Chains, Hotel Management Companies, Theme Parks, etc. by:
Conducting weekly competitive analysis’ for key markets, report findings and make adjustments.
Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on individual accounts and markets progress toward achieving weekly, monthly and annual targets.
Providing Educational Seminars
Merchandising/Advertising opportunities
Support in identifying and creating opportunities for growth
Initiating annual contract renewals for larger Accounts
Work with internal and external partners on major lodging development initiatives – like direct connect, report server, corporate travel etc
Communicate to progress and changes related to development to lodging team.
Establish Initial Relationships with local Tourism Agency/Organizations
Attendance at Supplier related Travel Shows
Host Supplier Presentations
For entire destinations
Hotel Chain/Management Company Clusters
Travel Shop related accounts
Destination Tourism Agencies/Organizations
Representation/Presentations
Destinations Tourism sponsored events
Marketing Partner sponsored events
Industry related Association events
Identify Competitors in each destination and gain an understanding of their:
Volume into the market
Advertising Methods
Origination of customers
Core Product
Pricing techniques
Competitive Advantages/Disadvantages
Technology capabilities both from Consumer and Suppliers points of view
Implement Extranet rate and inventory revisions, ensure suppliers understand the Extranet and increase supplier usage of the Extranet
Qualifications & experience should include:
Strong Leadership ability with high level communication skills
Ability to work and contribute in a multi-national team
Self motivated & with high level of energy
Professional, “get it done” attitude and work ethic.
Strong negotiation ability
Minimum of 2-3 years sales experience in wholesale travel or hotel industry.
University or Hotel Management School degree
English & Mandarin essential, Cantonese, Japan & Korean an added bonus but not essential
Strong knowledge of the hospitality, tour, or packaging business.
Experience with day-to-day management of business operations.
Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a persuasive, comprehensible manner demonstrating an understanding of their needs.
Statistical/analytical skills.
Understanding of sales and service strategies, including a working knowledge of account and inventory/revenue management.
Ability to work and thrive in a multi-tasked fast paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
